Organisation Goals and Values

We are proud supporters of our members and our communities. We support local not-for-profit organisations to raise funds for their organisations through local sponsorships and community schemes such as our Good for Good sponsorship program. We also encourage our staff to get involved in the community through volunteering. We have a reputation for being genuine, putting people first and bringing our best. We have been supporting people and helping communities achieve their goals and enrich their lives for nearly 50 years.

Opportunity Description

As an organisation servicing members throughout Queensland, we have staff located in the following locations: Aitkenvale, Atherton, Ayr, Beaudesert, Booval, Bowen, Brassall, Brisbane city, Cairns city, Caneland Central, Charters Towers, Collinsville, Deeragun, Earlville, Home Hill, Innisfail, Jimboomba, Magnetic Island, Mount Isa, Mount Pleasant, Smithfield, Stanthorpe, Townsville City, Virginia, Weipa, Willows, Yamanto.

At Queensland Country, we are big believers in supporting regional Queenslanders and the communities in which we operate. We believe we have a responsibility n duty to give back, and that being a good corporate citizen begins with making it possible for our employees to serve our communities actively. Every year, our employees receive up to 2 days of paid volunteer time for a through our Community Volunteer Program, lending their time and expertise to a not-for-profit charity or local community association of their choice. Employees can participate in a variety of activities such as spending time in schools, fundraising at community events, engaging in mentoring projects or dedicating their time to local community groups.

Skills

Our organisation is made up of a diverse team of people from all walks of life and wide-ranging life experiences. We recognise that our staff have preferences for the type of volunteering they get involved in. Internally we group this into three categories: a) Fostering, nurturing and caring b) Talent, skills and knowledge and c) Fundraising. Our staff are interested in all kinds of volunteering activities from animal rescue, conservation, numeracy and literacy assistance, Christmas gift wrapping, fixing teddy bears to name a few.

Week days. Ideally, a minimum of 4 hours and up to 2 days per employee, per financial year.

Indoors, outdoors, onsite, offsite – no unsafe environments.

Numbers available will depend on the day and location.

If Blue Cards, or Police checks and application forms are required, we will need to be provided at least 8 weeks notification to allow time for staff to apply and get clearance. Note: some staff already have these.

We request that:

• The work is carried out Monday to Friday during business hours • The activity is not considered high risk

• The organisation is not-for-profit

• The activity is recognised as beneficial to the community • The position is not replacing paid workers

• The position is covered by appropriate insurance cover for the particular activity.

We also like to encourage staff to share their volunteering stories, where appropriate, we encourage our staff to wear a Queensland Country polo shirt and take a photo.

We can provide photo consent forms if required. While volunteering, employees are expected to adhere to both Queensland Country’s Code of Conduct and any code of conduct or other requirements the volunteering organisation may require. Tennis is a game and it’s a passion; it’s an hour of fun and a lifetime commitment. It’s boys and girls, and it’s men and women; it’s all ages, all races, all people everywhere. It’s made for a sunburnt country, a sport we love so much we play it anywhere and everywhere- in the suburbs, in the bush, in the outback and even on rooftops. It’s everybody’s sport.
It is the wonderful world of Tennis, Australia’s favourite.

Opportunity Description

Sponsorship opportunities are available for various Tournament Events and also Club events. This includes Naming Rights for:

  • Night Fixtures (each with a few hundred players each Season)
  • Adult Group Coaching (year round attracting up to one hundred new players)
  • Sunday Social (Year Round each week with up to 30 players mostly from the Public)
  • Cardio Tennis
  • Tennis Townsville Closed Tournament
  • North Queensland Age and Open Championships (with Australia wide players and a couple of hundred players)
  • Four Junior Programs (with up to two hundred enrolments each term)

Kiosk work of an evening includes tasks: Sports Administration,  Collecting fees, Selling drinks, Tracking attendance and scorecards

Learning to be a junior coach

Court supervisor on-line training for Volunteer Court supervisor position for Tournaments.

Skills

People skills for a social sporting fun air-conditioned environment.

Our goal here at AAWS is to provide time on water for everyone with or with out a disability, we are about fun family and fitness in a safe secure environment. our members are the owners of the club so they have a real sense of belonging and can be involved in this inclusive sport, that provides the opportunity to be involved in the community.

Volunteering opportunities include individuals for helping set up for our family fundays.

There are a number of sponsorship opportunities we offer as a club and we love to work with and form partnerships with local business that’s a win win for both them and our club.

SPONSOR A BOARD

The not-for-profit sector makes an enormous contribution to Australia’s social and economic welfare. Not-for-Profits protect our environment, educate our students, enable us to practice our faith, celebrate our cultural heritage, and protect the most vulnerable in our community.

Organisations can provide and demonstrate good social responsibility by sponsoring a Not for Profit to the Volunteer Management and Board Ready Program.

Opportunity Description

We will be holding our Annual Big Breakfast in aid of Anti-Poverty week 2019. The date of the event is Wednesday 16th October.
We are seeking volunteers to help cook our bbq, and serve food to people in the community. This event has been very successful in our previous years and we normally provide breakfast to approx 80-100 people.

Skills

No specific skills required. Just a “can do” approach is required. We work in a very welcoming and friendly environment and we work together as a team to deliver quality services to the people in our community.

Opportunity Description

We provide a range of opportunities for working together including employee and group volunteering, event sponsorship, workplace giving, and partnership.
 
Because we know you are busy, we make it fun and easy for you to engage your organisation in making a positive difference. Your team can join us for a day out in the field. The day typically runs from around 7:00am to 12:00pm (excluding travel times) with a morning break. Activities may include pulling out weeds, planting native trees, and collecting marine debris at one of our bush protection sites.
 
You can also support us by sponsoring an event (e.g. a tree planting on World Environment Day or a beach clean up on World Oceans Day) or setting up workplace-giving in your organisation so that your employees can choose to donate to Conservation Volunteers to make a positive difference in the community and environment.
 
Our ability to involve volunteers in important environment projects is dependent on our partners who support us. This makes it essential for us to work together and we welcome conversations to explore opportunities to partner with you!

Skills

Conservation Volunteers’ strength is our ability to mobilise the community through well managed and effective programs. Our volunteers come from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences and give their time freely to help. Our expertise as an organisation in training and managing community volunteers turns their efforts into a major force for environmental good. We also contribute to the overall health and well-being of volunteers and people that participate in our programs.

Sailability Queensland facilitates sailing and boating through local Sailability Clubs in Queensland for the elderly, disabled or socially disadvantaged.
Sailability is about taking people with a disability onto the water – sailing or cruising in a safe environment in the hands of experienced skippers. We are part of a world-wide non-profit organization run entirely by volunteer members. Our goal is to give people with disabilities an opportunity to make their dreams a reality by achieving freedom through sailing.

Opportunity Description

Land Support Crew

A Land Support Crew volunteer provides land/pontoon support for people with a disability who are learning how to sail.  As our service grows we need additional support to help get our disabled customers ready for sailing.

Tasks include:

  • Assist with fitting life jackets
  • Assist with administration
  • Assisting on the pontoon
  • Be willing to learn how to manage our hoist
  • Be willing to learn about two-way radio
  • Be willing to help with set-up and stand-down procedures – marques, first aid kits, life jackets etc.
  • Be willing to learn how to rigging and launch dinghies

Support Boat ‘Skipper’

Volunteer Support Boat Skippers ‘drive’ our support boat (Marine boat license required). Our support boat and crew monitors the activities of our sailing boats on the water and provided back up in case of difficulty or emergency.

No experience necessary, just a willingness to assist.

Skills

Knowledge of sailing is not required, just a can-do attitude about disability
and a common sense approach to safety.

1-2 individuals on any given day

Onsite briefing and direction provided.  Marine boat license required for support boat skipper.
