Exciting Announcements at VNQ

Our New Manager

We are pleased to announce Jacqui Bekker has accepted our offer to step up from her current role of Acting Manager to the position of Manager of Volunteering North Queensland (VNQ).

We are also pleased to announce that Marie-Claude Brown remains with VNQ in an advisory role.

New Membership and Referral Service Structure

In conjunction with the announcement of our new Manager, Volunteering North Queensland will soon be unveiling its new Membership and Referral service structure.

DUE to COVID-19, and understanding that many of our community’s not for profit organisations are struggling, the board last week voted to waive the 2021-2022 membership charges. VNQ is now offering FREE membership to ALL individuals and organisations, and a new referral structure for not for profit organisations. More information about our free membership and
new referral structure will be advised over the coming weeks.

“Project 2021”

The VNQ Management Committee and the rest of the VNQ team are also excited to announce the innovative “Project 2021”.
Lead by VNQ Committee’s youth representative, Trayeden Fulmer, the goal of “Project 2021” is to revitalise volunteering in the Townsville community.

“Volunteering North Queensland is committed to and passionate about, championing a community rich in volunteers. We want to highlight the many benefits of volunteering including providing every individual the opportunity to make a difference in their community as well as creating a pathway to a career and gaining life experience”, said Trayeden.

Project 2021’s objective is to engage all volunteers within the Townsville region, however due to the strategy of the project most marketing will capture youth volunteers and freelance volunteers who engage in community focused and spontaneous volunteering such as land and environmental care, sporting events, and festivals.

In conjunction with National Student Volunteer Week (9-15 August), a special landing page has been created on the VNQ website to enable students of all ages to register their interest in volunteering and be notified of all opportunities that become available  https://www.vnq.org.au/quicksearch/#/opportunity/16806.

VNQ also gives EVERYONE the opportunity to register for notification when event organisers are looking for volunteers within our region. To become an Event Volunteer visit https://www.vnq.org.au/quick-search/#/opportunity/167433.
